WebNov 30, 2014 · The only thing you have to remember is that you cannot leave the ignition on for over 30 seconds if the engine is not running. It will burn out the unit. My understanding is the newer versions, Pertronix II and III have fixed this problem. I also used one their distributors in my 77 Cordoba along with their Flame Thrower coil. I ordered a new Pertonix Flamethrower distributor in its place to do away with points. Have no spark now. Engine would start and run without issue prior to new distributor.
